What is the best way to protect from virus', hackers, etc?

I am looking to get a laptop and I have the choice to bundle either Norton Internet security or McAfee Security center with it. Are either of these programs really good, or would I be better with another program? I want to protect against virus', spyware, malware, hackers, keyloggers etc. Are there any good free programs that I can downlod to do this, even if they are seperate programs? I would like to hear your reccomendations for this. Thanks

1. Set up a good firewall.

2. Download AVG for viruses (it's free)

3. Download Spybot for spyware (it's also free)

And note that if you really want to protect yourself, run Mac or Linux instead of Windows. Actually...Mac sucks, scratch that.

get norton 360 its the best for everything the people at http://propcaid.com/ have told me if you need help with any of you laptop thing you need to go there. when you go to http://propcaid.com/ than go to computer help and ask them the computer question
Don't use Norton or McAfee. If you want to use a security suite use ZoneAlarm Internet security suite 7 : it has the top notch ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall, the excellent Kaspersky Antivirus and zonelab's own antispyware. For Free antivirus, don't use AVG do a search on the Net (forums and security sites) and you'll see why, use the Free Avira Antivir PE, it's a much better apps. There are tons of Free antispywares you can download and use on your pc : A-squared Free, SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareBlaster, Spybot Search%26Destroy,...For Free firewall use either ZoneAlarm or Comodo.
All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.After you install any of them,make sure you update them to get the full affect.
